When it comes to packing your suitcase in preparation for that next big travel adventure, there are several ‘must have’ items that spring to mind.
Few would leave home without a toothbrush, a change of underwear or those comfy walking shoes, but for Queen Elizabeth II there is another essential item that gets thrown in the royal luggage.
It seems that one of the most well-travelled monarchs in history never leaves home without a suitable supply of Earl Grey tea.
According to the MailOnline, the blend is created “especially for her by Twinings”, and Her Majesty never adds milk or sugar to the drink – she likes it exactly as it is.
In addition to her favourite tea, the Queen has been said to never travel without a special Chocolate Biscuit Cake, which her former personal chef, Darn McGrady, says “is the only cake [she] goes back again and again and again everyday until it’s all gone”.
With the extensive travel the Queen has done in her 65-year reign – she has been to more than 130 countries, and has made at least 20 visits to Australia – that is sure to be quite of lot of tea and cake consumed.
