FAQs

expand_more

Before you travel, you will receive detailed pre-departure documents, including a range of information on your packing, destination and trip details.

Passports and Visas

Your passport should have at least 6 blank pages and be valid for at least six months after the end of your holiday. It is advisable to allow at least one blank page for each country to be visited. Visas are your responsibility: Please check Visa requirements with the Consular office of each country you will be visiting. You should allow plenty of time for obtaining necessary Visas as requirements do vary from time to time.

Vaccinations

Please consult your doctor or immunisation centre for the relevant vaccination requirements for the countries to which you will be travelling. Please note however, that Yellow Fever vaccination is compulsory for some African countries.

Tipping and gratuities

It is customary to tip in Africa. We suggest the following as a guideline: - $US1.00 per bag for porters, 10 percent for taxi drivers and waiters and approx. $US10.00-20.00 per day for guides and game rangers. Although all tips and gratuities are dependent upon the level of service provided, tipping the local drivers, staff and guides is always appreciated. Also bear in mind that local African people will appreciate gifts that you may normally dispose of at the end of your safari — food, clothing, towels and of course, pens, paper, pencils and hats are very popular with the local children.

Money

It is advisable to bring spending money in cash, in either $US or Rand, in a variety of denominations. Credit cards can be used in some places and so can be a useful resource. However, credit cards should not be relied upon as a main source of funds as there are many places where cards cannot be used (especially for cash advances).
