Commences in Broome on Fridays (May to Sep)

Day 1 - Arrive Broome (D)

After your arrival in Broome, check in to your accommodation. Tonight you will meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers at dinner.

Day 2 - Broome - Leisure Day (B)

Today is yours to explore Broome, a fascinating multicultural community surrounded by stunning natural wonders. Be sure to visit famous Cable Beach and swim in its turquoise waters.

Day 3 - Broome to Fitzroy Crossing (B, D)

After taking in the highlights of Broome, it's time to head to Geikie Gorge for a scenic cruise through sheer limestone walls. From here, you will travel to Fitzroy Crossing for your overnight stay.

Day 4 - Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek (B, L, D)

Today is all about incredible landscapes and a chance to meet Indigenous artists at Halls Creek - a fascinating town rich in both Aboriginal and European history and culture.

Day 5 - Halls Creek to Emma Gorge (B, L, D)

You'll be intrigued by how the world's largest source of natural coloured diamonds are extracted at the Argyle Diamond Mine. You'll then head to Parry Lagoons Nature Reserve to see egrets, herons, ibis, magpie geese and perhaps, even a jabiru or a lurking crocodile. As the sun fades, settle in to your safari-style tented cabin set among native pandanus and palms at the foot of the Cockburn Ranges in the El Questro Wilderness Park.

Day 6 - El Questro Wilderness Park (B, D)

Waking to a symphony of birdsong and rising to a hearty breakfast, you'll join a cruise on beautiful Chamberlain Gorge. The rest of the day is yours to relax at the resort.

Day 7 - Emma Gorge to Kununurra (B, D)

Today you're travelling onward to Kununurra, but first up it's a guided tour of Hoochery Distillery, the home of Ord River Rum. Visit historic Durack Homestead Museum and later, cruise along the wildlife-rich Ord River, where you'll also enjoy a stunning sunset.

Day 8 - Kununurra (B, D)

You can choose from two incredible adventures: an optional early morning scenic flight over the spectacular Bungle Bungle Range before a tour of Kununurra or a full day 4WD tour of the Bungle Bungles. After your afternoon of exploration or relaxation, you'll dine this evening on locally grown product at a privately hosted Be My Guest dinner in the heart of Kununurra's sandalwood plantations.

Day 9 - Kununurra to Katherine (B, D)

Heading east to the Top End, your introduction to the Northern Territory will be meeting Tom Curtin during his entertaining show at the Katherine Outback Experience.

Day 10 - Katherine to Darwin (B, D)

In Nitmiluk National Park, you'll cruise spectacular Katherine Gorge with expert guides. Heading further up the Stuart Highway at Adelaide River, visit the site of a large WWII military base and a significant war cemetery After arriving in Darwin, tour the city sights before joining your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner overlooking the waterfront.

Platinum Service (twin and double share):

Boasting deluxe extras such as platinum transfers, in-cabin breakfasts and access to the Platinum Lounge and Restaurant, Platinum Service promises and delivers a journey beyond expectations. Platinum cabins have an abundance of space, almost twice the size of a Gold Twin Cabin. By day your cabin is a private lounge with deluxe lounge seating, a table and two ottomans. By night, the lounges convert to a comfortable bedroom with either a double bed or twin beds.

Gold Superior (double share): Limited cabins available

A Superior cabin in Gold Service is a unique way to travel. You'll enjoy a private cabin with all-inclusive dining, beverages and a range of fascinating off-train excursions. Gold Superior cabins feature a ¾ size double bed, an additional fold down upper berth, lounge area, TV and DVD player, mini-bar and ensuite.

Gold Service (Single and twin share):

You'll enjoy private single or twin share cabin together with all-inclusive dining and beverages. During the day, the compact Twin Berth Sleeper Cabins offer a comfortable three seater lounge, converting to an upper and lower sleeping berth at night. Twin Berth cabins have private ensuite facilities with a hide-away compact toilet, wash basin and shower.

Can I fly out the same day as the train arrives? We highly recommend that guests do not book flights same day as arrival without allowing for late running trains. This would mean allowing for at least 3-5 hours after the scheduled arrival time, and an overnight stopover.

How much luggage can I take with me? Guests should bring an overnight bag to their cabin containing everything needed for the journey. Each guest travelling are entitled to checked in luggage, however checked in luggage cannot be accessed during the journey. In Gold service guests are allowed 2 bags x 30kg and guests travelling in Platinum Service are allowed 3 bags x 30kg.

Can I take any pets or animals with me on-train? No - the only animals permitted on GSR services are specially trained dogs for the vision and hearing impaired.

Can I take my walking frame/wheelchair/ scooter on board the train? No - these items must be checked-in as stored luggage. A specially modified pushchair can be requested for use on train (with the assistance of a Carer or travelling companion) - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

What medical assistance do the on-train staff provide? Staff are trained to administer basic first aid, however our staff are not able to provide routine medical aid during a journey. Guests requiring medical attention or mobility assistance on board any of our trains are required to arrange for their own Carer to travel with them.

Can my necessary medication be refrigerated? Yes subject to space within our on-board fridge compartments - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Can I take oxygen onboard? Yes - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Does the train carry power outlets for CPAC machines? Cabins on the Indian Pacific have 240V power outlets installed which can be used for a CPAC machine. It is recommended that a surge arrestor/protector be used to protect the machine when it is plugged in case of a power surge.

Do I need any cash or credit cards onboard? As the rail journeys are all-inclusive you will not need to buy anything unless you choose to purchase an Off-Train Excursion upgrade or souvenirs, which you can do onboard utilising our EFTPOS or credit card facilities.

Dress Code onboard the train? Smart casual attire is suggested for guests travelling in Platinum Service and Gold Service. Warm clothes are recommended for evenings onboard the train, as the air-conditioning can be cool. It is recommended that guests pack a hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes for off-train touring. Sensible shoes are advisable for walking between carriages. Long, sturdy pants may be required for some Off-Train Excursions.
