Day 1 - Depart Sydney

Your transcontinental adventure begins in Sydney where you board the Indian Pacific. Prepare for a journey of contrasts, from lush vineyards to vast goldmines, majestic mountains to the barren expanse of the Nullarbor, from cities of four million to ghost towns of four.  As the train winds through the breathtaking Blue Mountains, explore the comforts of life onboard, get acquainted with your cabin and fellow travellers. After settling in, savour your first meal – a regionally-inspired dinner paired with all-inclusive fine wines and beverages.  After dinner, join fellow guests for a late night drink or head back to your cabin for your first night onboard.

Day 2 - Broken Hill, Barossa Valley & Adelaide Surrounds

You arrive in the ‘Silver City’ of Broken Hill as the day begins, where you embark on a morning of Off Train Excursions to discover the mining history and artistic culture of this unique town where the streets are wide and there’s a pub on every corner.  Lunch is served onboard as the Indian Pacific enters the southern tip of the spectacular and ancient Flinders Ranges. Arriving in the city of Adelaide in the afternoon, you have the choice of a tour of the city, a visit to the world famous Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale wine regions (seasonal), or a trip to the beautiful Adelaide Hills featuring the culinary delights of Hahndorf.

Day 3 - Nullarbor Plain

You’ll awake to the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain. Breakfast is served as you travel along the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world. This evening, your sense of wonder will be ignited as you enjoy the tranquillity of dinner under the brilliant desert stars in the remote and beautiful Rawlinna (seasonal).

Day 4 - Arrive in Perth

Breakfast is served as you glide through the mild skies and cool green vales of the Avon Valley on your way to Perth, arriving after an onboard lunch. Once you disembark the train make your own way to the hotel where you will spend the next night.

Day 5 - Perth to Fremantle

This morning after checking out from the hotel you will be transferred to Fremantle to board your 12 night cruise. The ship will set sail at 6:00pm this evening.

Day 6 - Geraldton, Western Australia 

This ship will dock in Geraldton from 8:00am to 1:00pm today.

Day 7 & 8 - At Sea

The facilities on board Vasco da Gama are impressive with a choice of five lounge bars, a pool bar and four entertainment venues each with its own individual style making sea days full . She offers a casino, library, card room and shopping galleria plus extensive deck areas, two swimming pools (one of which has a retractable roof), sports courts, spa amenities and a gym.

Day9 - Broome, Western Australia

This ship will dock in Broome from 8:00am to 5:00pm today.

Day 10 - At Sea

The ship has some great entertainment on board, from show teams to pianists to disco. Why not start your evening with a pre-dinner drink and enjoy some of your favourite melodies? The resident musicians invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy conversation with new friends about another wonderful day.

Day 11 - Benoa, Bali (Indonesia)

This ship will dock in Benoa today at 1:00pm. The images of this ‘Island of the Gods’ are many and varied – enchanting temples, mesmeric dance, stunning beaches, pounding surf, the most delicious and freshest local food. Enjoy some, or all, of these pleasures on arguably the most visitor-friendly of Indonesia’s 18,000 plus islands.

Day 12 - Benoa, Bali (Indonesia)

The ship will set sail from Benoa at midnight.

Day 13 - Lombok (Indonesia)

The ship will dock in Lombok today from 7:00am to 1:00pm.

Day 14 to 16 - At sea

Be pampered at the well-appointed wellness centre with its beautiful spa amenities, make use of the hairdressing and beauty facilities, or work out in the well-equipped gym. The impressive three-decked atrium is the focal point of the ship offering a shopping galleria, Reception, Shore Excursions desk and photo gallery. Elsewhere, you’ll find a cinema, casino, Trumps & Aces bridge and card room, arts and crafts area, meeting room and ship’s library. Plus, there’s Cappuccino’s coffee shop and Gelato’s ice cream bar to tempt you. 

Day 17 - Fremantle

This morning the ship will arrive in Fremantle at 8:00am. After disembarking the ship make your own way to Perth for your onward journey.

Vasco da Gama Ship Profile:

The premium 1220 passenger Vasco da Gama joined the Cruise & Maritime Voyages fleet in April 2019. Combining beautiful, contemporary decor with a more traditional cruise style, Vasco da Gama is small to mid-size, by comparison with the new mega-ships carrying up to 6000 passengers.

Comfortable cabin accommodation ranges from standard to de-luxe with 80% enjoying an ocean view. There are no less than 120 balcony cabins and 29 more spacious suites which also benefit from having private balconies.

Travel Insurance

All passengers must hold comprehensive travel insurance valid for the entire duration of the cruise and provides cover for cruising, health including pre-existing conditions and medical repatriation.Insurance not required for an in-port cruise. Medicare, New Zealand ACC and Private Health Cover are void onboard the ship. International medical charges apply on board.

Dress code

Casual during the day and whilst ashore. No formal nights on cruises of 4 nights or less, one formal night for cruises 5-7 nights, two formal nights on cruises of 10-19 nights, one formal night every 7 nights on voyages of 20+ nights. For formal evenings gentlemen are requested to wear long trousers, collared shirt, suit or jacket and tie. Ladies may we aran evening outfit. On ‘informal’ evenings a collared shirt and long pants are suggested for men whilst ladies may choose to wear a smart dress or pants and top. Singlets, t-shirt, thongs, shorts not permitted in main restaurants at night. Casual wear permitted in Club Bistro. Swimming attire is not permitted inside lounges/bars/restaurant areas.

Gratuities & Service Charges

These are NOT Included (unless pre-paid Additions Package is purchased) and will be added daily to passenger’s onboard account. Rates: AU$12.00 pp per night (or AU$10.00 pp per night for cruises longer than 11 nights duration).

Identification

Government issued photo identification (passport or driver’s license) is required when cruising in Australian waters. Children under 16 may travel on a Medicare card or student ID card.

Mobility Issues / Disabilities

Vasco da Gama has 9 accessible cabins (with shower) and 6 wheelchair-accessible cabins which are subject to availability at the time of request. Cruise & Maritime Voyages must be notified of wheelchair usage and/or any special needs at time of booking
