DAY 1 - ARRIVE DARWIN
You’ve arrived in Darwin – it’s yours to explore. Spend the day at your leisure before checking in to your accommodation.
OVERNIGHT: 4 nights Vibe Hotel Darwin Waterfront

DAY 2 - LITCHFIELD NATIONAL PARK
Litchfield National Park contains several types of typical Top End habitats including lush monsoon forests, termite mounds, unusual rock formations, waterfalls and cascades. First stop of the day is Florence Falls, where you have the opportunity for a scenic and interpretive bush and monsoon vine forest walk. There is also a chance for a swim by making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below. Travel on to Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole. To finish the day, you will visit Wangi Falls, with its large crystal clear pool, another relaxing spot for a swim. A great day for taking many fascinating photos, including the amazing stand of termite mounds. (B,L)

DAY 3 - LEISURE DAY
Today is yours to explore Darwin at your own pace. Take in a spot of souvenir shopping or simply relax at your accommodation. (B)

DAY 4 -JUMPING CROCODILES
This morning is free for you to explore Darwin at your leisure. Perhaps make your way down to the waterfront and enjoy the tropical Darwin weather. Much of Darwin’s action happens along its revitalised waterfront, which is lined with restaurants, shops, sandy lagoons and parklands.

This afternoon, your jumping croc adventure begins. ust 60 kilometres from Darwin lies the Adelaide River, home to more than 1,600 crocodiles and the location of the famous Jumping Crocodiles. Travel down the Stuart Highway to the Adelaide River. Cruise the river and thrill as these awesome creatures launch themselves out of the water. The cruise will enable you to see these prehistoric creatures at close range. Afterwards, continue to the Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for views over the Marrakai Plains, and then it’s onto Fogg Dam Nature Reserve to see a wetland ecosystem up close. (B)

DAY 5 - BOARD THE GHAN EXPEDITION IN DARWIN
This morning it’s time to board The Ghan. Settle in as you relax in your cabin or mingle with fellow travellers in the Outback Explorer Lounge. Enjoy lunch on board before you arrive in Katherine for your Off Train Excursion. In a region renowned for jaw-dropping natural assets, Katherine boasts one of the Top End’s best – the incredible Nitmiluk Gorge.

DAY 6 - THE GHAN EXPEDITION, ALICE SPRINGS 
After breakfast you’ll arrive into Alice Springs, with plenty of time to explore the iconic town in the red heart of Australia. Prepare for a day of fascinating excursions and, in the evening, dine under a million stars. (B,L,D)

DAY 7 - THE GHAN EXPEDITION, COOBER PEDY
When you next disembark in remote Manguri, you’ll enjoy a full day exploring the amazing opal mining township of Coober Pedy. (B,L,D)

DAY 8 - THE GHAN EXPEDITION, ADELAIDE
After completing the famous north-south crossing of Australia’s interior, you will arrive into Adelaide where your adventure comes to an end. (B)

FAQs

Luggage?

Guests should bring an overnight bag to their cabin containing everything needed for the journey. Each guest travelling are entitled to checked in luggage, however checked in luggage cannot be accessed during the journey. In Gold service guests are allowed 2 bags x 30kg and guests travelling in Platinum Service are allowed 3 bags x 30kg.

Can I take any pets or animals with me on-train?

No - the only animals permitted on GSR services are specially trained dogs for the vision and hearing impaired.

Can I take my walking frame/wheelchair/ scooter on board the train?

No - these items must be checked-in as stored luggage. A specially modified pushchair can be requested for use on train (with the assistance of a Carer or travelling companion) - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Does the train carry power outlets for CPAC machines?

Cabins on the Indian Pacific have 240V power outlets installed which can be used for a CPAC machine. It is recommended that a surge arrestor/protector be used to protect the machine when it is plugged in case of a power surge.

Can I pre-book my Off-Train Excursions?

Off Train Excursions preferences can only be organised once on board the train and are not able to be pre-booked. The only exception to this is for The Ghan Expedition, where the Uluru Scenic Flight can be booked prior to travel.

Do I need any cash or credit cards onboard?

As the rail journeys are all-inclusive you will not need to buy anything unless you choose to purchase an Off Train Excursion upgrade or souvenirs, which you can do onboard utilising our EFTPOS or credit card facilities.

Dress Code onboard the train?

Smart casual attire is suggested for guests travelling in Platinum Service and Gold Service. Warm clothes are recommended for evenings onboard the train, as the air-conditioning can be cool. It is recommended that guests pack a hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes for off-train touring. Sensible shoes are advisable for walking between carriages. Long, sturdy pants may be required for some Off Train Excursions.

Is Wi-Fi available on board the train?

No, currently Wi-Fi is not available.
