Great Keppel Island is approximately 1454 hectares in size (around 3,500 acres) – home to seventeen pristine white sandy beaches. The island interior is rich with native flora and fauna, all waiting for you to explore. Island bush walking tracks disperse trekkers around the island to beaches or spectacular lookouts. These vary in duration and difficulty, from leisurely strolls to challenging hikes.
Private coves and pockets of fringing reef around Great Keppel Island are excellent for swimming, snorkelling and diving.
Great Keppel Island is a bird watchers paradise, with over 90 species of birds identified, living among many different habitats. Brush tail possums are numerous, as well as blue-tongue lizards and goannas.
Dolphins are often seen close to the main beaches during the winter months. Humpback whale numbers are increasing each year in Keppel Bay waters each season from April to November, with the majority migrating north from June to August, and back towards the southern ocean from September to November.

Day 1:
Make your way to Rosslyn Bay, Yeppoon for your boat transfer to Great Keppel Island. On arrival, enjoy a welcome drink before checking into your room.
If you are flying into Rockhampton, please ensure you arrive no later than 1:00pm so that you have enough time to connect with your transfer to Rosslyn Bay for your ferry transfer to Great Keppel Island.
Days 2-5:
Sit back and enjoy the tranquility of Great Keppel Island.
Day 6:
Return boat transfer from Great Keppel Island to Rosslyn Bay,Yeppoon before making your own way home.

Situated in its own precinct within the property and only a five minute stroll to the Bar and Bistro, these motel style, Garden Rooms are air-conditioned, with a fan, screened windows, tea/coffee facilities, a small bar fridge, toilet and shower. Linen is provided (pillows, sheets, blankets and bath towel), so all you need to bring is your personal belongings and a beach towel.

How to get to Great Keppel Island:
Finding your way to Great Keppel Island will always take you through Rockhampton, the beef capital of Australia! Rockhampton is located 40km or approximately 45 min drive from Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast. Transport to Rockhampton will be by plane, bus, rail or self-drive.
Transport from Rockhampton to Rosslyn Bay Harbour can be by:
Self Drive:
From Rockhampton, travel to Yeppoon, and then to Rosslyn Bay (40km drive). Take the Yeppoon-Rockhampton road turnoff, just north of Rockhampton from the Bruce Highway. A 30-minute drive will bring you to Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast. Turn right along the Scenic Highway (The Capricorn Coast Tourist Organisation office is just on your left). After a short ten minute drive you will be at the Rosslyn Bay Harbour turnoff (Great Keppel Island Security Car Park is on your right – phone 07 4933 6670 - bookings required). A courtesy transfer operates between the car park and the marina.
Rockhampton airport to Rosslyn Bay marina:
Private minibus transfers are available from Rockhampton airport and city - please call Little Johnny;s Tours & Rentals on 0414 793 637 or email [email protected] to arrange your transfer. A private minibus transfer for 1-4 passengers is approx $200 return.
