Day 1 - Board the Indian Pacific in Sydney (D)

Make your way to Sydney Central Station and board the Indian Pacific mid-afternoon. Your journey to Perth begins with a steady climb into the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains. A landscape of ancient forests, sheer cliffs and mesmerising views pass by your window as you sit back and relax. Settle in, open a book or enjoy a pre-dinner drink with your fellow travellers.

Day 2 - Broken Hill & Adelaide - Indian Pacific (B, L, D)

Wake up deep in the Australian outback, where the historic mining hub of Broken Hill awaits. Connect with the town's world-famous artists and mining heritage with a choice of off-train excursions. Your journey continues through the southern Flinders Ranges and into cosmopolitan Adelaide, the South Australian capital. Embark on a history tour of the South Australian Museum, or journey beyond to the legendary Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale wine regions. A visit to the historic stone village of Hahndorf in the photogenic Adelaide Hills is another option.

Day 3 - Nullarbor Plain - Indian Pacific (B, L, D)

Enjoy breakfast as you begin your crossing of the Nullarbor Plain. Part way along the world's longest stretch of straight railway track (478km), enjoy a wander around Cook, an abandoned railway town that was once home to a bush hospital and more than 50 railway workers. Next stop is tiny Rawlinna, a remote outpost bordering the largest sheep station in the southern hemisphere. Here you'll enjoy an outback dinner under a glorious spread of stars.

Day 4 - Arrive Perth - Indian Pacific (B, L)

Your breakfast treat this morning is watching the delightful Avon Valley pass by your window, as the final stage of your crossing to Perth unfolds. After a delicious lunch, arrive at East Perth Rail Terminal and transfer to your accommodation.

Day 5 - Perth & Fremantle (B)

Starting in Perth in the morning, your City Explorer tour takes in the major attractions including the Western Australian Cricket Ground, Kings Park, picturesque Cottesloe Beach and the historic port town of Fremantle. With an eclectic mix of artists, backpackers, and students, 'Freo' buzes with the songs of buskers as footpaths fill with art collections and music drifts out from cafes and bars. Cruise back to Perth along the Swan River. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore - perhaps take a look around Elizabeth Quay and the Swan Bell Tower, or visit the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

Day 6 - Perth & Margaret River (B, L, D)

Bid Perth a temporary goodbye and travel south to the iconic Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the world (1841m) and the surf-lined shores of the Margaret River region. Stop at the famous Bootleg Brewery for a gourmet platter lunch and award-winning beers and ciders, followed by premium wine tastings at Sandalford Winery. Further south are impressive Mammoth Cave and the massive karri trees of Voranup Forest. Your tour continues to the 39m-tall Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, overlooking the point where the Southern and Indian Oceans collide. From here, you will be transferred to your overnight accommodation.

Day 7 - Margaret River to Perth (B, L)

Enjoy some downtime in the morning - maybe stroll along the main street of Margaret River township, enjoy a coffee in a local cafe then meander back to your accommodation. Heading into the Margaret River wine region, enjoy five guided wine tastings, paired with locally produced cheese, chocolate and a range of other flavours. Take part in an exclusive blind tasting and enjoy a delicious winery platter for lunch. Return to Perth late in the evening.

Day 8 - Farewell from Perth (B)

Check out of your hotel after breakfast before making your way home.
